Cathy Hume

Chief Executive Officer

Cathy Hume has built her career in Investor Relations specializing in small cap companies upon recognizing their intrinsic needs from the point of view of a Toronto retail broker, a position she held for 11 years. Cathy’s integrity and personable personality has fostered enduring business relationships and has permitted her IR portfolio of clients to grow exclusively from referrals since 1993.

Cathy has volunteered over the years by supporting several not-for-profit organizations as well as professional associations. She was Co-Chair of Women In Mining, Toronto, and an instructor of Ryerson University’s course “Resource Valuation, Financing, and Investor Relations” offered by The Chang School of Business as part of its Certificate in Mining Management.

Cathy is a dedicated board member of The Townships Project, a South African-focused charity. She is also a mentor in External Business for the Ted Rogers Leadership Centre.

Ottavio Cavalcanti

Managing Director, President

After attending University with Majors in Economics, Finance and Philosophy, Ottavio Cavalcanti began his business career in the banking sector. His father, a prominent banker in South America, exposed Ottavio to elite business circles starting at a young age. Following banking, Ottavio successfully worked in the real estate sales sector for a number of years.

As an experienced operator of businesses in a several countries, Ottavio elevates CHF to the international business arena.His flare for communicating with people, in any of five languages, has presented business opportunities both here and abroad. Ottavio’s intuitive business skills, contacts, knowledge of languages and enthusiastic personality provide our clients with a global approach to investor relations and further access into investor communities.

Carole Rowsell

Executive Vice President

Carole Rowsell is a business executive with a depth of experience in leading the training and development programs for four national companies along with holding general management positions at these organizations. For over 25 years, Carole has worked with companies during their start up and transition phases to help them recognize the challenges and rewards inherent to growing business organizations. Her communication and leadership skills have also been put to work in the volunteer sector serving both the local and the international community. Overall, Carole’s communication skills, leadership and commitment enhance the quality of the service CHF provides to clients. Carole holds an Honours B.Comm. degree.

Peili Miao, MBA, CPA CGA AICPA

Vice President Financial Strategy & Communications

Peili has a diverse educational background in business and accounting. Peili completed an Executive MBA in Business Administration and Management from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University, a bachelor’s degree in economics from Shanghai Maritime University, a CPA designation from the Chartered Professional Accountants (Canada), an AICPA certification from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the CICA In-Depth Tax Course from the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.



Kathy Chapman

Executive Assistant to the CEO

Kathy Chapman has held senior management positions in a variety of industries throughout her 40-year administrative and financial career, including franchising, manufacturing, capital markets, junior mining exploration, and mining consultancy. Kathy was the Co-Chair of Women in Mining Toronto for seven years and was instrumental in increasing the membership four-fold.

Along with being Cathy Hume’s Executive Assistant, Kathy proofreads all client materials from technical mining press releases to PowerPoint presentations, factsheets, and websites.

Kathy and her husband have an acreage near Fundy National Park in New Brunswick where they love to grow most of their food and watch the tide come into their backyard twice a day, along with all the beautiful wildlife that visits regularly.

Steve Mlot, P.Eng.

Mining Analyst and Technical Writer

Stephen has been an investor in mining companies for more than 40 years and has more than 45 years mineral-industry experience, including 25 years of Management and Board service with junior mining companies. He is experienced in the full life cycle of mining projects, from grass-roots exploration, through resource building, financial evaluation, construction and development, operations, and closure. He is a Qualified Person for NI 43-101 reporting for a wide variety of commodities and is skilled at mining project valuations at all stages.

John Arcena

Graphic Designer/Administrative Assistant

John graduated from Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology in Graphic Design with honours and has been designing and assisting in graphic/administration for the past seven years. His flair for design has allowed him to creatively produce pieces from retail graphics, brochures, posters and advertisements that were published nationally. He enjoys using colour, playing with typography and communicating through visual mediums. John works as graphic designer/administrative support assistant full-time, where he enjoys working in a busy office environment designing marketing materials for CHF clients.

More than three decades of capital markets experience, starting as a spot gold trader before moving into a role as an inter-bank foreign exchange dealer.

Established a strong retail Investment Advisory practise helping finance and support early-stage venture capital companies, with a special focus on the resource sector.

Since 2017 has provided capital markets advisory services to leading growth companies through his network of Investment Advisors in Kelowna, Vancouver and Calgary.



Kimberly Darlington

Content Translator/Investor Relations Consultant 

A graduate of Queen’s University’s School of Business, Kimberly has more than two decades’ experience in the fields of marketing and public relations across a wide variety of industries. She began her career in the arts and entertainment sector in Toronto, moving on to a well-regarded boutique PR agency, where she built her expertise in event management, media relations, strategic communications, internal/employee relations, public affairs and community relations, marketing planning, speechwriting, and copywriting. Working with companies from the technology, financial services, pharmaceutical, retail, and consumer goods industries, she developed her ability to help clients formulate key messages and objectives for their events and then worked closely with them to see those objectives realized over the life of a project.
